    Comment on the death of a woman in Tulse Hill hit and run

    December 13, 2017

    Rachel Alcock - Outreach and Communications Officer

    I am sure that like us you were shocked to learn of the death of a women in Tulse Hill, on the one-way system, on Monday 11th December.

    This junction is one which falls under the remit of the StreetWorks scheme - and as a result we have issued a comment from Noshir, the Chair of the StreetWorks Steering Committee.

    Noshir says;

    "We are devastated to learn of the death of a pedestrian in Tulse Hill. The reports that she was hit multiple times and that the drivers involved did not stop are shocking, and we urge anyone with information to call the police on 101. Our deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends.

    "There have been too many accidents at this dangerous junction. Local residents and councillors petitioned Transport for London (TfL) to improve safety here. As a result, TfL have identified the funding needed to; reduce speeding, remove the one-way system, and make it safer for pedestrians, cyclists and local residents. Residents have been informing the design proposals and we hope that TfL can progress the scheme quickly to ensure a collision like this hit-and-run will not happen again.

    "This tragic death further highlights the need to continue working as a community to design spaces which are safe for walkers and cyclists.”
