Kiss and Drop – Quickly!
When we asked residents about the changes they wanted to see around Station Rise by Tulse Hill Station one message came through loud and clear – more pedestrian space, and fewer cars! So that is exactly what we have done in the design and work on this area – which is now almost complete. But drivers be warned – now the double yellow lines are in place outside the station you could well receive a ticket for parking here. This really is meant for a quick ‘kiss and drop’ for the

Your questions answered
Thank you so much to everyone who came to speak to us at the various events we have been attending over the last couple of months. There were quite a few questions that lots of people asked, so we thought that the best way to try and spread the word would be to write a Q&A, hopefully answering all your burning questions. How are my taxes funding this project? The work being undertaken in this project is completely funded by TFL. Council offers do support the scheme – but the

Keeping our streets clean
As our lovely new pavements have been going in, we also noticed that in places they were quickly becoming stained. A walk around, combined with speaking to residents revealed that rubbish was being left out by business, whilst other litter had been flytipped. Lambeth councillors and staff will be tackling the problem head on, as we want our new pavements to remain in pristine condition for as long as possible. The areas where stains have occurred will be jet washed, and we wi

Pavements – from shabby to chic
Have you seen that whilst some of our pavements are looking brand new, others are a bit, well, battered? Maybe you have noticed the lack of proper paving slabs, or the strange tarmac mounds joining the pavement to the roads at side streets? Don’t worry! This is just a temporary measure. The plans for our high street show that where possible all pavements will be widened and will have lovely new paving slabs put down. However, before this can be done several other companies wh

Problems for cyclists - what is the solution?
As the pavements have begun to be widened on Norwood Road we have had reports from cyclists who have said that in one particular place, near the junction with Elmcourt Road, they felt as if they were coming into conflict with those who were driving. Here both the pavement and parking bays have been pushed out further into the carriageway -meaning that cars can come close to cyclists when overtaking. We want these designs to work in practice for walkers and cyclists and make e

The designs are here!
You may have seen some of the improvement works on our high street have started to take place. But maybe you are unclear as to what the final product will look like? The technical drawings outlining the plans for Norwood High Street are now online, and you can check out how your thoughts and ideas have fed in to the designs. However, technical drawings can sometimes be confusing and difficult to interpret. So here are some of the exciting things you can expect to see happen o

Station Rise Works Starting Early May
Works are due to start on Station Rise on the 2nd May 2017 and will last around 3 months...can't wait to see the finished results! Through the co-design process; working together to see how can improve the area it was evident that we wanted to make this a great pleasant public space. The parking along the left (north side) will be removed with loading and disabled bay's remaining on the right (south). There will be bicycle parking racks, Yorkstone paving with extra seating wi
